OZRobot: A User's Guide
November 1, 1989
OZRobot is a service provided for nodelisted GT Sysops to
speed and simply registration of OZNET programs. To use it
all you need to do is send a message to "Ozrobot" at one of
the following OZNET registration centres:
Kangaroo Korner 302/001 Stephen de Plater
The Black Hole 302/003 Ken Thompson
TSUNAMI! Catch the Wave 006/000 Chet Wilkinson
Control Systems 071/001 Ed Cavender
The message should contain lines in this form (all beginning
in column 1):
---------------------------------------------------------------
:N my bbs name
where all characters after the first white space will contain
the name for registration. For instance: to register to
Kangaroo Korner, the following line is necessary
:N Kangaroo Korner
Remember that this is case sensitive.
There MUST be a :N line before the names of ANY OZNET packages
to be registered--otherwise OZRobot will do no more than
return an error message via netmail <grin>.
---------------------------------------------------------------
package name
which is the name of the oznet package which you wish to
register. There may be any number of these per message, but
only one per line.
PLEASE REMEMBER THAT OZRobot looks for the name of the PACKAGE
not of the individual programs within a package. That is,
HISTORY would work, but GENHIST.EXE would not!
To register say, MARVIN and WHODIS the following two lines are
required:
MARVIN
WHODIS
---------------------------------------------------------------
:L
This line will generate a list of packages which may be
registered. In fact, any error in the package names will also
do the same. Only one list will be generated per message.
---------------------------------------------------------------
a tear line
A tear line consists of three (3) minus signs beginning in
column 1. The effect is to make OZRobot ignore anything which
comes after it. If you want to include a normal message, then
you are free to do so AFTER the tear line. (Otherwise OZRobot
will attempt to process the first word on each line.)
Also any line which has a non alphanumeric character in column
1 will be ignored.
EXAMPLE:
the following message to OZRobot will generate two
registrations for me, and then a list of packages, and finally
contains a message to the registration centre.
================================
:N Kangaroo Korner
whodis
marvin
:L
---
the rest of this message (this part)
is ignored by OZRobot.
